Role Description:
Australian Signals Directorate has a requirement for an Information Technology support officer. Specifically the IT support officer will be responsible, under general direction to develop and install client images and maintain desktop computing equipment, manage IP encryption equipment and manage IT infrastructure equipment.
Major Responsibilities:
Build, install and maintain Windows desktops across multiple locations.
Second level support for network and Windows desktop issues.
Maintain a range of electronic key cabinets including some minor maintenance on the associated mechanical mechanisms.
Perform the installation, removal and decommissioning of IT equipment.
Update IT system configuration management records.
Assist in the continuous improvement process by developing and enhancing procedures.
Support productive working relationships by working cohesively and flexibly with team members and customers.
Evaluate Desktop, server and other hardware spares requirements and replenish stock to meet ongoing operational requirements.
Other skills and knowledge:
Experience with various aspects of routine IT system maintenance including:

Building Windows desktop images
-
Patching Windows desktop systems
-
Maintaining cable infrastructure and cable registers
-
Hardware maintenance tasks for desktop systems or communications equipment (battery changes, hard drive changes etc.)
-
Basic command line tasks on Windows and Linux
Experience providing second tier customer support for applications including the recording and of faults and the identification of trends for system and process improvement.
Experience with Defence procurement process and procedures.
Desirable skills and knowledge include:

Scripting in PowerShell and/or Bash
•
ICT system security including cryptographic technologies; and
•
Network security products including firewalls and IDS/IPS devices

Other features of the role:
Contract Company must agree to be included on an Export Licence agreement. CoA will arrange the Export Licence for the successful company.
The role is based in Canberra with some domestic travel.
Security Clearance:
Must hold either a current Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance OR have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded). Candidates with a current Defence Intelligence Agency recognised Psychological Assessment (PA) preferred but not essential.
