    Infrastructure Specialist – multiple positions

    Contract: 12 or 24 months from commencement

    ​Role Description:
    Access Foundations Branch within the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), will deliver cutting edge capabilities to support ASD’s Signals Intelligence and Offensive Cyber Capabilities. These capabilities consists of a combination of:
    - Delivery of new capability under the REDSPICE program,
    - Delivery of ASD's major capability programs and,
    - Enhancing and modernising existing capabilities.
    To facilitate this ASD has a requirement for Infrastructure Specialists. The Infrastructure Specialist is expected to provide support to the Project Management Office (PMO) with the primary focus being on the delivery of new capability and the sustainment of existing hardware delivered under the capability project.
    The types of hardware involved may include servers, blade centres, network devices, transmission equipment and other related peripheral components, including PCI-e cards and media converters.
    ​
    Major Responsibilities:
    • Plan and execute large roll outs of ICT infrastructure within project controlled datacentres. 
    • Undertake datacentre and / or telecommunications hardware builds / maintenance, and manage the environments they are used in. cabling options include (CAT6, DACs and fibre) and infrastructure variants.
    • Undertake activities to transition delivered capability to operations, including asset management.
    • Install and configure network connected equipment and perform basic fault investigations as they arise.
    • Identify and assess the risks associated with project activities, and develop and implement strategies to reduce those risks
    • Analytically troubleshoot using device logs or fault codes.
    • Assist with the preparation of status reports and prepare other project documentation, including work packages, project and support plans
    • Undertake procurement activities necessary to enable successful delivery of capability

    Other Skills:
    • Experience in upgrading firmware using several installation techniques / options on devices, for example, network switches, routers, power distribution units etc.
    • Experience with Systems Administrative work conducted on RHEL systems, for the purposes of commissioning and sustaining systems
    • Knowledge of differing optical fibre, including parallel pluggable connectors, and advanced splicing techniques. Understanding and application of optical link budgets.
    • Practical knowledge of data transmission networks, MAN and WAN
    • Practical knowledge of datacentre design, including AC & DC power systems, cooling, access and security.

    • PRMG 4
    • ASMG 4

    Security Clearance:
    Must hold a current Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance. Candidates with a current Defence Intelligence Agency recognised Psychological Assessment (PA) preferred but not essential.

    Core Hours:
    Contracted personnel are to work no more than an average of eight hours per day between 7 am and 7 pm, Monday to Friday, unless requested to do so by the Contract Manager, and must take a minimum 30 minute break after five hours consecutive work.
    Part-time arrangements will be considered. Respondents are to clearly indicate requirements in their response.

    Other Features:
    The role is based in Canberra with minimal to no travel.
