Role Description:
The Systems Engineering Manager will work under limited guidance, providing systems and system-of-systems engineering advice, integration and dependency analysis, and conducting research in support of the AICNet Capability Upgrade.
The Systems Engineering Manager will lead complex activities and tasks relating to requirements development, system definition, design and development, integration, verification and validation. This person will plan, organise, integrate and deliver complex systems engineering services and products, whilst working cohesively and flexibly with the broader project team, key business partners and stakeholder groups.
Major Responsibilities:
Support the Project Director in a broad range of systems engineering activities related to system design, implementation, testing and to ensure that engineering solutions are coordinated across the project.
Responsible for the development of software and system enhancements especially on the security domain to deliver project outcomes.
Responsible for the integration and transition of the security services system with the new identity management system.
Design and develop integrated solutions that meet current and future needs including detailed documentation and implementation plans.
Analyse complex systems engineering issues, apply expertise to identify and recommend courses of action.
Contribute to and review externally developed designs, plans and other artefacts to ensure integration with requirements and verification processes.
Validation and verification of existing requirements, capturing any new requirements and managing these requirements during the capability delivery phase.
Contribute to identifying and analysing project level risks and issues, including aggregating subprojects’ risks to identify project level risks.
Manage existing IT Infrastructure and resources required to deliver and support IT services and products.
Codification and Transfer of knowledge relating to activities work undertaken under this contract to Commonwealth Officers.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience of ICT systems infrastructure, security principles, practices and technologies in both physical and virtual environments.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the development of software and the usage of languages including C, Perl, SOAP/SAML, Java, and Bash/Python.

Security Clearance:
Must hold either a current Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance OR have held a TSPV in the previous 12 month period (which has since been downgraded). Candidates with a current Defence Intelligence Agency recognised Psychological Assessment (PA) preferred but not essential.
Other Features:
This role is Canberra based at either Fairbairn, Brindabella Park or Russell Offices.
The role may require domestic travel.
Core hours:
Contracted personnel are to work no more than an average of 8 hours per day, between the hours of 7am and 7pm unless requested to do so by the Contract Manager, and must take a minimum 30 minute break after 5 hours consecutive work.
