    ​Role Description:
    The System Security Architect is responsible for supporting the development, delivery and operations of systems / capabilities that enable the delivery of ASD’s Cyber Defence Capabilities. The Security Architect will work closely with stakeholders across business and capability delivery areas to ensure that mission outcomes are realised in a secure, scalable and agile manner.

    Major Responsibilities:
    • Determine system and security requirements by evaluating business strategies and leading threat risk assessments; research activities, and system specific security assessments. 
    • Architect and implement solutions (or data services) in alignment with the Information Security Manual, PSPF and other relevant standards, polices or best practices.
    • Review existing system security measures, recommend and implement enhancements.
    • Develop, deliver and update documentation in alignment or organisational architecture and IT Security requirements / expectations. 
    • Lead or support stakeholder engagement activities to provide SME guidance relating to security risks and enable risk based decision making.

    Other Skills:
    • Experience identifying and applying security controls to large scale, complex capabilities and/or developing ICT Security analytics
    • Experience architecting complex systems

    ​Security Clearance:
    Must hold either a current Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance OR have held a TSPV in the previous 12 month period (which has since been downgraded). Candidates with a current Defence Intelligence Agency recognised Psychological Assessment (PA) preferred but not essential. 

    Other Features:
    • The role is primarily Canberra based, with minimal travel required, however the ability to self-transport between local sites using the most efficient means is required. There may be some domestic travel required.

    Core hours:
    Contracted personnel are to work no more than an average of 8 hours per day, between the hours of 7am and 7pm unless requested to do so by the Contract Manager, and must take a minimum 30 minute break after 5 hours consecutive work.​

    The ICT Security Specialist is responsible under broad direction to protect ASD systems and information, meet domestic and international policies and standards, and mitigate risks.

    Major Responsibilities:
    • Liaise with multiple project and capability stakeholders to assist in design and documentation of ICT system security controls
    • Contribute to design of ICT Security policy and documentation, and implement practices, technologies and governance.
    • Analyse and assess ICT system security documentation and configuration, including the use of vulnerability assessment tools.
    • Undertake ICT security threat and risk assessment and develop appropriate security documentation to gain certification. 
    • Support the operation of the IT security team by providing the following services:
    1. IT security education and outreach
    2. Leadership on IT security related matters and issues
    3. Assist in the Continuous improvement processes
    4. Stakeholder engagement on security-related matters

    Other Skills:

    Enable the development and integration of Government Of The Shelf and Commercial Of The Shelf IT Security capabilities: plan, design, develop, and integrate these capabilities with other key systems.

    Major Responsibilities:
    • Plan, design and implement complex ICT systems that includes integration with other key systems (with key focus on system design, solution architecture, development, deployment and sustainment of the system including documentation production)
    • Ensure the reliability of the system:
      - Correct processing problems
      - Ensure system resource use is sustainable
              - Monitor and remedy any interruption to services
    • Analyse systems engineering issues, and provide recommended courses of action to rectify these issues. Ensure agreed course of action is implemented appropriately. 
    • Ensure that work completed conforms to any applicable quality standard or a standard identified by the Commonwealth.

    Other Skills:
    Essential:
    • Demonstrated advanced Linux Enterprise and/or Windows Enterprise system administration skills.
    Desirable:
    • Detailed experience in data processing, scripting and coding skills, specifically in Python, C, .NET, Bash, or XSLT.
    • Familiarity with system monitoring and alerting technologies such as: prometheus/grafana, splunk, ELK, etc.

    ​Role Description:
    Experienced systems administrator required for maintenance and integration of ICT infrastructure and security systems across the full lifecycle of the product owner’s systems.

    Major Responsibilities:
    • Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of a complex ICT environment containing both Windows and Linux based systems.
    • Contribute to the provisioning, support and maintenance of Storage Area Network (SAN) appliance, physical and virtual server infrastructure and a small fleet of desktops.
    • Ensure the reliability of the system by using standard procedures and tools to carry out defined system configuration, backups, and restoring data where necessary. This includes the use of network management tools to collect and report on network load and performance statistics.
    • Ensure incidents, problems and changes are captured and responded to within the IT service management platform.  This includes administration of accounts and permissions.
    • Identify operational problems and contribute to their resolution, checking that they are managed in accordance with agreed standards and procedures.
    • Assist in documenting existing and new features and processes related to system support and enhancement.

    Other Skills:
    Essential:
    • Experience in administering a secure and reliable Linux and/or Windows ICT environment
    Desirable:
    • Data processing, scripting and coding skills, specifically in Bash, XSLT, PowerShell, Python or C.
    • Experience in administering virtual machine systems, particularly Red Hat

    ​Role Description:
    Within ETSPO, DEF103 is a major project to deliver Strategic Communications Capability to Defence. 
    The Project will undertake capital acquisitions to deliver new telecommunications capability services both domestically and internationally. 
    The System Security Architect/Practitioner is responsible for liaising closely with the Certification and Accreditation Authorities responsible for describing the security threats and risks with delivery of a solution.
    The System Security Architect/Practitioner will develop the security architecture/design for the Project capabilities whilst working cohesively and adaptably with a large group of diverse stakeholders.

    Major Responsibilities:
    • Determine security requirements by evaluating business strategies and leading threat risk assessment activities; research information security standards; conduct system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments.
    • Review existing system security measures, recommend and implement enhancements.
    • produce architectural solutions that meet the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM).
    • Develop, deliver and update System Accreditation Plan (SAP), Security Risk Management Plan (SRMP) and other relevant documents to ensure capability solution architecture/design(s) are able to sufficiently mitigate the identified threats.
    • Analyse, design, develop, deliver and maintain documentation supporting the security posture of a range of cyber security capabilities.
    • Liaise with certification and accreditation authorities, business stakeholders and solution architects to drive a solution/design to an accreditation outcome.
    • Review internal/externally developed security engineering artefacts to ensure that all security requirements are addressed
    • Advise Program Design Authority on system security threats, risks and mitigations.
    • Codification and transfer of knowledge relating to activities work undertaken under this contract to Commonwealth Officers.
