Role Description:
The ICT Security Specialist is responsible under broad direction to protect ASD systems and information, meet domestic and international policies and standards, and mitigate risks.
Major Responsibilities:
Liaise with multiple project and capability stakeholders to assist in design and documentation of ICT system security controls
Contribute to design of ICT Security policy and documentation, and implement practices, technologies and governance.
Analyse and assess ICT system security documentation and configuration, including the use of vulnerability assessment tools.
Undertake ICT security threat and risk assessment.
Support the operation of the IT security team by providing the following services:

IT security education and outreach
•
Professional leadership on IT security related matters and issues
•
Continuous improvement processes
•
Stakeholder engagement on security-related matters
•
Operational IT Security including device inspections and monitoring service desk queues
•
Protective Monitoring duties for the Level 1 SOC
Other Skills:
Experience identifying and applying security controls to large scale, complex capabilities and/or developing ICT Security analytics (Essential)
Experience architecting complex systems (Desirable)
Experience in the provisioning of security controls to cloud computing systems (Desirable)

Security Clearance:
Must hold either a current Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance OR have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded). Candidates with a current Defence Intelligence Agency recognised Psychological Assessment (PA) preferred but not essential.
Core Hours:
8 hours per day between the hours of 7am and 7pm
Contracted personnel are to work no more than an average of 8 hours per day, unless requested to do so by the Contract Manager, and must take a minimum 30 minute break after 5 hours consecutive work.
Part-time arrangements will be considered.
Other Features:
A combination of work between ASD Canberra sites and interstate facilities will be considered. Service Provider must provide clarification of where the Candidate resides, ie. Suburb and City, and explanation for this request. Any interstate arrangement may require a period (3-4 weeks) of full-time engagement in Canberra at the commencement of the contract. Role will require some travel between offices and may require some role-specific interstate travel.
