Role Description:
CICDS Branch within the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), will deliver cutting edge capabilities to support ASD’s Signals Intelligence and Offensive Cyber Capabilities. These capabilities consists of a combination of:
Delivery of new capability under the REDSPICE program,
Delivery of ASD's major capability programs and,
Enhancing and modernising existing capabilities.
To facilitate this ASD has a requirement for a Software Developer.
The Software Developer will be responsible for working under direction as a member of a team responsible for developing complex programs, integrating Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and Government Off the Shelf (GOTS) software, documenting technical processes and assisting with testing and deployment. The role will need well established software development skills and a proven ability to work within an integrated team of technical/non-technical personnel.
Major Responsibilities:
Develop complex programs using a variety of software languages (e.g. Python) and development environments to achieve a well-engineered result.
Deliver scripting using a variety of languages (e.g. JavaScript) and secondary skills (e.g. SQL)
Develop software that provides high quality User Experience outcomes.
Adhere to software engineering processes and contribute to software engineering process improvement.
Work as a member of an integrated technical and non-technical team by participating in and contributing to design reviews, team meetings and stakeholder meetings.
Document technical processes.
Conduct reviews of other team members’ work.
Contribute to the continuous improvement process by developing and enhancing procedures.
Assist with the planning and prioritisation activities and tasks, applying technical expertise and advice on aspects of system development and integration.
Other Skills:
Demonstrable experience in Python and RESTful API’s.
Demonstrable experience in front-end frameworks including Django and Angular.
Demonstrable experience with Kubernetes and Docker automation tools.

Other Features:
Role based in Canberra. Minimal travel may be required.
Security Clearance:
Must hold either a current Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance OR have held a TSPV in the previous 12 month period (which has since been downgraded). Candidates with a current Defence Intelligence Agency recognised Psychological Assessment (PA) preferred but not essential.
Core Hours:
Contracted personnel are to work no more than an average of 8 hours per day, between the hours of 7am and 7pm unless requested to do so by the Contract Manager, and must take a minimum 30 minute break after 5 hours consecutive work. Excludes ACT Public Holidays and Christmas stand down.

Role Description:
The Software Developer role is responsible for developing new and maintaining existing software meeting organisational needs. Working in a diverse team environment, this will involve sharing outcomes and experience with others to support development and growth. This role sits within the Analytic and Intelligent Technology team who provide corporate data science capabilities, and analytic and geospatial platforms.
Required Skills:
Ability to develop code in one or more programming languages. (e.g. C#, Java, Golang, FastAPI, RUST, React, Python).
Strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to write comprehensive software documentation.
Knowledge and experience with software development practices
Source Control (GitLab, BitBucket).
Desirable Skills & Experience:

Required Skills:
Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends and refactors complex programs/scripts in Python.
Build tooling and techniques which are well tested, documented and provide consistency in development approaches.
Resolving operational problems with programming solutions.
Contributes to the selection of the development methods, tools and techniques.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
Platform engineering such as containerisation.
Integrating and building APIs.
A general understanding of potential data issues such as missing values, and duplicate data.
Experience in implementing data flows in tools such as Apache NiFi.
Demonstrated ability to develop technical documentation and track work in collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA.

Role Description:
The Software Developer will work in the Enterprise Technology Systems Program Office (ETSPO) and support the ICT Systems Product Manager to deliver enhancements to a modern and newly introduced capability.
Working within a small team of technical specialists, the Software Developer will have significant autonomy in managing work, and will be able to independently approach, own and solve key problem sets.
The Software Developer will develop and deliver ongoing enhancements to a cloud-based software application, comprised of a range of commercial, open-source, and bespoke code, and assist in managing this system across development, quality assurance, and production environments. The Software Developer will also undertake required 2nd and 3rd level support activities as required to maintain system operation.
Major Responsibilities:
Work with other developers, security specialists, and stakeholders in feature development, prioritisation, and ongoing system enhancements.
With support from the Technical Lead, manage all aspects of the software development life cycle, including application of change control, source control, and continuous integration.
Develop and improve the mission system and support systems by applying your knowledge and experience along with industry best practice.
Deliver quality code enhancements across various systems, interfaces, components, and distributed technologies.
Produce test scripts, materials and regression test packs to test new and amended software or services.
Undertake testing, with the use of test automation. Create
traceability records between test cases and requirements.
Undertake second and third level system support tasks, resolve incidents and defects, manage planned and unplanned outages, monitor performance and alert management of critical issues as they arise.
Keep abreast of technological advances and make recommendations for future technology choices. Interpret customer requirements and respond with a coherent technical solution.
Develop and maintain relevant Systems Lifecycle documentation, including design documentation, technical notes, standard operating procedures, deployment guides, etc.
Other Skills:
Demonstrated experience developing large complex web applications with React, Express, HTML and CSS, including relevant frameworks and libraries.
Demonstrated experience in both development languages such as Java and Python, as well as enabling technologies such as Jenkins, Artifactory, Docker, Kubernetes and Ansible.
Demonstrated experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, ElasticSearch, as well as processing of a range of structured and unstructured data sets.
Possess working knowledge of test automation with tools. For example: Selenium, Locust or Mocha.
Proven experience working within Agile, CI/CD, and DevOps teams.
Proven experience in Windows and Unix-based administration.

Role Description:

To facilitate this ASD has a requirement for a Software Developer. A Software Developer is required to develop and integrate software employing an Agile Software Development Methodology (SDM).
The Software Developer will be responsible for developing software, integrating Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and Government Off the Shelf (GOTS) software, documenting technical processes and assisting with testing and deployment.
Major Responsibilities:
Design, build, integrate, deliver and document software capability that meets business requirements.
Support, maintain and enhance existing software capability ensuring application availability.
Assist in the continuous improvement process by developing and enhancing procedures.
Document technical processes in accordance with organisational policies and procedures and promote bi-directional knowledge transfer within a team environment.
Other Skills:
Demonstrated competence in Java software development (Other programming experience will also be considered).
Demonstrated competence with Python and/or similar experience with other scripting languages.
Experienced in developing and deploying software within a Linux / UNIX environment.
Proven ability to work in a team environment and contribute ideas. Experience working within an agile team is desirable.
