Role Description:
Mission Data Division (MD) within the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), will deliver cutting edge capabilities to Defence through a variety of different programmes and projects. To facilitate this ASD has a requirement for a Systems Integrator.
The Systems Integrator will be responsible for working under direction as a member of a team responsible for developing software, integrating Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and Government Off the Shelf (GOTS) software, documenting technical processes and assisting with testing and deployment and ongoing sustainment of the capability.
The role will need systems integration skills and a proven ability to work within an integrated team of technical/non-technical personnel.
Major Responsibilities:
Integrate and deploy updates and fixes to COTS and GOTS software. This includes improving the deployment process and continual improvement to the security and compliance posture of the capabilities.
Support the production environment through monitoring tools. Identify, investigate and resolve production issues as they arise in a timely manner.
Work with various stakeholders to influences new features and system capabilities and identify the best way to deliver these new features.
Work to ensure the current environment is scalable to handle future data growth predictions.
Identify system interdependencies and liaise with other system stakeholders to resolve conflict and coordinate integrated solutions.
Work as a member of an integrated Agile team.
Document technical processes.
Develop a schedule of work and report on progress.
Other Skills:
Demonstrable experience in development languages/frameworks such as Java, Spring-boot and BASH/Python
Familiarity with the Cloud based ecosystems such as HDFS, Map-Reduce and Accumulo
Proficiency with Linux (RHEL 7+) system administration
Proficiency in continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) tooling and practices such as Git, Puppet, Jenkins and Ansible

Other Features:
The role is based in Canberra with minimal travel.
Security Clearance:
Must hold either a current Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance OR have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded). Candidates with a current Defence Intelligence Agency recognised Psychological Assessment (PA) preferred but not essential.
Core Hours:
Contracted personnel are to work no more than an average of 8 hours per day, between the hours of 7am and 7pm unless requested to do so by the Contract Manager, and must take a minimum 30 minute break after 5 hours consecutive work. Excludes ACT Public Holidays and Christmas stand down.
Part-time arrangements may be considered. Respondents are to clearly indicate requirements in their response.
