Role Description:
Mission Data Division (MD) within the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), will deliver cutting edge capabilities to Defence through a variety of different programmes and projects. To facilitate this ASD has a requirement for a Test Engineer.
The Test Engineer will be responsible under direction to specify, develop and write test plans and test scripts, produce test cases, carry out regression testing, and use automated test software applications to test the behaviour, functionality and integrity of systems, and document the results.
Major Responsibilities:
Under direction from the Test Manager, conduct the design, integration and transition of mission system upgrades to ensure the capability meets business, security and quality requirements.
Support the monitoring and maintenance of system security, quality, performance and reliability (Windows & Linux). Ensure system upgrades and configuration changes are deployed according to the program schedule.
Support engineering and technical staff in systems lifecycle activities related to requirements engineering, systems design, implementation, test and operation.
Document test processes and procedures in a clear and concise manner. Ensure that procedures which involve specific technical knowledge or materials are documented sufficiently to meet testing quality standards.
Support effective version and configuration management
Ensure traceability between requirements, testing and test results.
Ensure test results are integrated into systems engineering and software development processes and documentation.
Work proactively with developers and project team to improve the quality of outputs and share knowledge.
Work collaboratively and constructively as part of an Agile delivery team to ensure the timely delivery of a quality ICT capability.
Other Skills:
Testing experience in an Agile software development environment.
Experience with Linux systems and system administration.
Experience with cloud, containers and virtualisation.

Other Features:
The role is based in Canberra with minimal travel.
Security Clearance:
Must hold either a current Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance OR have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded). Candidates with a current Defence Intelligence Agency recognised Psychological Assessment (PA) preferred but not essential.
Core Hours:
Contracted personnel are to work no more than an average of 8 hours per day, between the hours of 7am and 7pm unless requested to do so by the Contract Manager, and must take a minimum 30 minute break after 5 hours consecutive work. Excludes ACT Public Holidays and Christmas stand down.
Part-time arrangements may be considered. Respondents are to clearly indicate requirements in their response.
