The Service Architect has authority and accountability for strategic planning, business relationship development and facilitating the continuous improvement of the Digital Workplace Services portfolio, with particular focus on business process digitisation and data-analytic support to business processes.
The Service Architect educates management and customers on the implication of new technologies and clearly articulates the business benefits. The Service Architect analyses customer business processes including providing analytic and reporting support to management to support digitised processes and build evidence for process digitisation.
The Service Architect oversees the service level for the portfolio, balancing business needs, security constraints and resource constraints to develop and continually adjust near, medium and long term service goals. The role drives the delivery of management-sponsored initiatives to improve and replace services, and assists management in strategic work to build up team capacity to effectively deliver digitisation and business analytic services
The role collaborates with junior to senior technical specialists in a mixed contract/APS team, balancing daily operational support against weekly and multi-month deliverables.
The Digital Workplace Services section enables Defence Intelligence Agency customers to securely create, manage and share corporate information. We implement, secure, support and iterate a portfolio of information management applications covering management of documents, records, knowledge, multimedia, tasks, workflows, ICT equipment, locations and people; and provide monitoring, data warehousing and analytics for these repositories
Staff work in a framework of legislation, principles and work practices including management of corporate information in accordance with the Privacy Act and compliance with the Australian Government Information Security Manual.
Research new features of current technology and new and upcoming technology solutions for business process digitisation and data-analytic support to business processes. Advise management and customers on the business risks and benefits. Provide guidance and advice for future-proofing considerations and direction and drive for management-sponsored initiatives to improve and replace services. Assist with optimal configuration and user familiarisation of digital workflow and analytic services.
Build and sustain relationships with a network of key stakeholders for services. Engage with stakeholders to understand their business processes and identify opportunities for digitisation, automation and analytic support. Build plans for supporting initiatives, analysing risks and identifying mitigations and what can be done within resource and security constraints.
Participate as a subject matter expert as needed in stakeholder requirements capture, expectation management and education including explaining security risks and issues. Participate in and assist in providing input and guidance during team planning exercises.
Ensure management have oversight of service level for the team, balancing business needs, security constraints and resource constraints to develop and continually adjust near, medium and long term service goals. Assist management in strategic work to build up team capacity to effectively deliver team services.
Write, maintain and provide input to strategic plans, business benefit and risk reports, forward work plans, and when required customer support documentation such as user guides, knowledge articles, customer update / launch / education briefings. Write corporate knowledge summaries such as system diagrams and support procedures
Document daily work (steps taken, reasons and outcomes) to ensure transition of knowledge to the Commonwealth and to enable repeatability of procedures and compliance with relevant standards, including Commonwealth record keeping responsibilities.
- Extensive experience in the successful delivery of complex ICT outcomes across an Enterprise, including stakeholder engagement at a variety of business levels, business process analysis, strategy and business case report authoring.
– Experience with management of medium scale projects with direct business impact and 3-18 month timelines.
– experience translating strategy into clear plans and sequences of current and future initiatives.
– demonstrable high level knowledge of usage and benefits of information management and workflow systems such as Sharepoint and Nintex
– experience using and knowledge of business analytic platforms such as Power BI and analytic / data-mining and computer-aided decision system concepts
SFIA Skills Required:
Must hold either a current Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance OR have held a TSPV in the previous 12 month period (which has since been downgraded). Candidates with a current Defence Intelligence Agency recognised Psychological Assessment (PA) preferred but not essential.
Contracted personnel are to work no more than an average of 8 hours per day, between the hours of 7am and 7pm unless requested to do so by the Contract Manager, and must take a minimum 30 minute break after 5 hours consecutive work. Contracted personnel may be engaged on an effective part-time basis (minimum of the equivalent of 3 full time days per week) depending on availability and suitability of skills.
Part-time arrangements may be considered.
Duties will require occasionally attending meetings or working from other Defence facilities within Canberra and some other government department buildings.
