Role Description:
ASD's purpose is to defend Australia from global threats and help advance Australia's national interests. We do this by mastering technology to inform, protect and disrupt. ASD’s role of protection necessitates understanding the cyber threat, providing proactive advice and assistance to improve the management of cyber risk for the agency and partners. This role will lead the provision of high quality and timely ICT Security services, enabling ASD capabilities to provide maximum benefit with a proportionate and well-understood security posture. The successful candidate will be a skilled, capable and motivated professional who embodies the ASD values.
Major Responsibilities:
Lead and manage ICT system security control assessments, liaising with project and capability stakeholders to achieve milestones.
Lead the development and review of ICT Security policy and documentation, and implement practices, technologies and governance in accordance with the agency’s security strategy.
Lead on ICT system security documentation including architectures, designs and configurations to reduce the risk of capabilities subject to assessment
Lead efficient and effective ICT security threat and risk assessment activities, applying & developing tools as needed.
Contribute to operational ICT security incident management, support and administrations functions if required.
Other Skills and Knowledge:
Experience identifying, influencing and assessing the selection and implementation of security controls to enterprise and bespoke ICT systems in an enterprise risk management framework.
Experience producing ICT security documentation including threat and risk assessments.
Experience managing and performing technical assessments to determine control effectiveness.
Experience providing advice and assistance on ICT security matters to technical and project staff.
Other Features:
A combination of work between ASD Canberra sites and interstate facilities will be considered. Service Provider must provide clarification of where the Candidate resides, ie. Suburb and City, and explanation for this request. Any interstate arrangement may require a period (3-4 weeks) of full-time engagement in Canberra at the commencement of the contract. Role will require some travel between offices and may require some role-specific interstate travel.
Security Clearance:
Must hold either a current Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance OR have held a TSPV in the previous 12 month period (which has since been downgraded). Candidates with a current Defence Intelligence Agency recognised Psychological Assessment (PA) preferred but not essential.
Core Hours:
8 hours per day between the hours of 7am and 7pm.
Contracted personnel are to work no more than an average of 8 hours per day, unless requested to do so by the Contract Manager, and must take a minimum 30 minute break after 5 hours consecutive work.

Role Description:
Experienced Security Systems Engineer and Analytics Specialist required to develop and enhance ASD ICT security systems. The service provider will be responsible for engineering activities and tasks relating to requirements development, system definition, design and development, integration, verification and validation. This role will include responsibility for implementation of major analytic-driven activities to meet required business outcomes.
Major Responsibilities:
Execute systems engineering tasks in the design, development, deployment and sustainment of security capabilities.
Develop complex analytics across large and varied datasets to achieve insights and answer security-based business requirements.
Deliver technical visualisation of proposed applications for approval by customer and execution by system developers.
Establish use cases, procedures and technical documentation to ensure delivery of security services.
Engage with stakeholders to confirm that services meet the service acceptance criteria and are to the required standard.
Other Skills and Knowledge:
Proven knowledge of information security principles, practices and technologies.
DESIRABLE: Experience with ICT security applications such as a SIEM (e.g. Arcsight, Splunk), and data analytic platforms.
DESIRABLE: Experience with Windows and Windows security tools
DESIRABLE: Experience with *nix systems and *nix security tools

The role will be based in Canberra, with minimal travel required
