Role Description
DFAT has a requirement for a Security Administration Officer to manage and support security clearance processes with outsourced services providers (OSPs) and undertake a variety of administrative duties to support DFAT’s security clearance processes.
The Security Administration Officer will be responsible for the following activities associated with the role:
Processing criminal records checks.
Managing email inboxes by responding to queries within appropriate timeframes.
Receiving and checking clearance applications.
Liaising internally and externally with various stakeholders to commence, monitor, progress and finalise security clearance processes. Updating relevant internal systems with this information.
Managing and supporting security clearance processes with external vetting service providers (ESVS/OSPs) and other government agencies.
Providing policy and related procedural advice regarding security clearance requirements as outlined in the Australian Government’s Protective Security Policy Framework and the Departmental (DFAT) Security Framework.
Preparing documentation for delegate approval.
Compiling regular compliance reports to manage and forecast workloads.
Providing client services assistance at the DFAT Security counter.
Work to tight deadlines and effectively manage competing priorities.
Assist with the progression of internal security processes as required (remote work/integrity checks).
Maintaining Standard Operating Procedures for the administration of security clearances.
Assisting Team Leaders with projects related to policy or operational processes.
Undertaking regular reviews of DFAT files to identify which can be destroyed in line with the Archives Act 1983
Provide assistance across the section more broadly (as required).
And other duties as directed by the team leader or director.

Ability to interpret policy in responding to client queries; and ability to work proactively and with minimal supervision.
Desirable:
Cert III or IV in Government (Security Vetting/PERSEC).

Experience in processing clearance applications and managing high volume clearance enquiries.

Role Description:
ASD requires a Vulnerability Assessor who will be responsible under broad direction to protect ASD systems and information, meet domestic and international policies and standards, and mitigate risks.
Job duties and responsibilities may include:
Liaise with multiple project and capability stakeholders to assist in design and documentation of ICT system security controls Evaluation Team

Interpret and comply with relevant policy governing ICT security in the Australian Signals Directorate, both internal and whole-of-Government, including legislation that underpins digital security and online privacy.
Evaluate and assist with the application and compliance of security controls and review information systems for actual or potential security vulnerabilities.
Adopt and adapt appropriate systems design methods, tools and techniques selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches, and ensure they are applied effectively.
Review and make recommendations and assess and manage associated risks of others' systems designs to ensure selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources, and integration of multiple systems and technology.

Duties and Responsibilities
Engineers:
Lead the coordination for the design, development, testing, implementation, documentation, support, security, maintenance or enhancement of signals intelligence systems.
Utilise contemporary knowledge of the Information Communication Technology profession to create innovative technical solutions, to support the signals intelligence function.
Apply an extensive understanding of the signals intelligence function through leading and guiding collaborative analysis activities
Design and implement solutions to issues impacting on the signals intelligence function.
Technical skills
(Preferred) Holds a Bachelor of Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering or an Intelligence related discipline or equivalent qualification/work experience in either of these fields:
Penetration Testing,
Host and/or network Forensics, or
Intelligence Analysis.
At least 5 years’ experience as a Cyber Engineer or similar role.
Broad understanding and experience in the application of the Essential 8.
Extensive experience with network security technologies from vendors such as Palo Alto, Cisco, Sourcefire, FireEye, Blue Coat, Gigamon and Ixia.
Vast experience installing and configuring COTS network security devices such as Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), NetFlow and Network Visibility appliances.

Cyber Analysts will provide ICT security advice and assistance to government, including policy creation, project advice and assistance, and research. They need to understand cyber intrusion activities then use their research skills to provide reporting on threat modelling and intelligence. They will be organised, dynamic, outcome-orientated individuals with strong communication skills.

Analysts:
Deliver complex briefs and cyber intelligence reporting related to the Australian Signals Directorate and national security issues.
Undertake complex research and analysis of relevant cyber threat actors to provide situational awareness on the current and emerging threat to the Australian Signals Directorate.
Analyse identified cyber threat event data and fuse with all-source intelligence in order to identify, model, and track threat actors targeting the Australian Signals Directorate, and recommend any required actions.
Understand and use analytical tools and techniques to develop cyber threat activity-related assessments.
Coordinate with senior leadership.
